English for Academic Purposes is designed for develop academic English skills for students who wish to further their studies into vocational or higher education.

Academic Purposes

It involves speaking, listening reading and writing skills as well as research and essay writing. There are two levels and four exit scores in this course.

Student Type

This is for students who wish to improve their academic skills to enter a vocational or higher education course in an English-speaking country.

Duration & Study Hours

12 weeks per level; 

Full-time: 20 hours per week

Course Levels
EAP 1 – equivalent to IELTS 5.5
EAP 2 – equivalent to IELTS 6.0
Intake

The first Monday of each Term start

Timetable Options
Morning Class: Monday to Friday 8:00am – 12:30pm
Afternoon Class: Monday to Friday 12:30pm – 16:45pm
Evening Class: Monday to Friday 16:45pm – 21:00pm
Weekend Class: Saturday to Sunday 9:00am – 8:30pm
Entry Levels
Participate in ALC placement test or provide evidence:
• IELTS score of 5.0 (for all individual bands) to enter EAP 1
• IELTS score of 5.5 to 6.0 (in all individual bands) to enter EAP 2
Assessment

The syllabus includes three summative tests – in Weeks 4, 8 and 12. The assessments are designed to check the overall academic progress of a student and whether or not learner objectives have been achieved.

Certificate of Completion
Documents issued to students at end of course or an exit:
• Certificate of completion
• Certificate of partial completion
• Certificate of attendance
